The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) in collaboration with the International Criminal Court Office of Public Counsel for the Defence (ICC-OPCD) and the generous sponsorship of Compagnia di San Paolo, together with the support of the International Association of Lawyers (Union Internationale des Avocats - UIA), will host a 4-day Seminar on International Criminal Law Defence at the United Nations Campus in Torino. The Seminar represents a unique opportunity to acquire a deep understanding of defence in the area of international criminal law, thanks to the participation of renowned experts. The Seminar, which will be organized within the framework of the LL.M. in International Crime and Justice programme, jointly organized by UNICRI and UNITO (University of Torino), is a combination of lectures and practical exercises. Participants will attend an introductory session on international criminal law and procedure on the first day of the event. They will then join the LL.M. students who come from 28 different countries, for the remainder of the activities. The Seminar will start on Monday, 2 April 2011 at 9.15. The Seminar is geared towards those interested in the practice of international criminal law whether in national or international courts, as well as to those who work with organizations involved in this area. More specifically, it is addressed to attorneys, legal and judicial personnel, law enforcement and governmental officers. The Seminar will be held in English. Minimum requirements are a degree in law or other equivalent qualifications and good written and verbal English skills. The Torino Bar Association recognises 24 training credits for this activity.
