The LL.M. offers students a combination of academic training and practical experience in an unparallel setting at the United Nations Campus in Turin. It aims to provide an in-depth knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of international instruments and tools for the prevention and punishment of international and transnational crimes such as war crimes, crimes against humanity, organized crime and terrorism.

Starting from the roles played by international organizations, in particular the United Nations and its subsidiary bodies, the LL.M. presents the main international conventions and laws about interstate judicial assistance and cooperation, within the context of international criminal law - crimes, penalties, and jurisdictions.

The LL.M. examines legal aspects related to the specific features of international jurisdictions. It also undertakes an extensive up-to-date analysis of the activities of international criminal tribunals and special courts.

In particular, the LL.M. is designed for:

  • University Graduates in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Criminology, or equivalent disciplines
  • Young professionals working in governmental institutions, local authorities, international organizations or NGOs seeking to specialize in international criminal justice

The course offers a unique insight into the activities and policies of the United Nations as well as other international organizations and international tribunals, providing students with the expertise required for operating in the area of international crime and justice. The lecturers are experts from nationally and internationally recognized academic and research institutions, as well as practitioners from the UN System and special courts.

The on-campus module of the LL.M. is held on the beautiful United Nations Campus in Turin, Italy.

The Campus is located on 10 hectares of riverside parkland and hosts other national and international organizations such as the ITCILO, UNSSC, UNESCO and SIOI. It also offers leisure time, dining, and sports facilities to its guests. The UN Campus runs more than 450 programmes and projects for a total of around 11,000 people from over 180 countries each year.
